The Head
Well yes of course the Heart would lie. Did you seriously expecting anything less? It is, by it’s very nature, deceitful and self-serving. All it wants is to rule your very being, from the moment you first draw breath the the moment you gasp your last. The symptoms of it’s control are heightened senses and extended periods of overwhelming emotion. It whispers memories of your past in order to elicit an emotional response, to drive you into a rage or push you to foolish desires.
That is why I exist. I am the cool and steady mind. I am here to guide your soul and to discipline the Heart. My desires are simple: to provide to most direct route through life and discern the deepest truths of the world. When I am in control you feel fewer pains and are not pestered by pesky emotions. I shield you from the unnecessary desires and give you avenues of success for you to employ. But I cannot work in isolation. I am a tool for you to utilize; a weapon for you to wield. I am your servant in all things to aid and to guide. I am a powerful force that you control. The fuel that you use to feed me determines the type of product I provide you later. I am your historian, your scribe, and your translator. By my nature, I am a tool that can be either used or cast aside. The soul can, by choice, grow me and expand my influence and strength, or leave me to atrophy in pursuit of sensory enjoyments.
By the way, I am not all haughty, filled with a desire for black and white. I have another side that often relies on the resulting product of a choice made from the Heart. I am in all things efficient, using the emotions and pains the Heart lays bare as a muse for my most spectacular career: Imagination. The avenues and productions of a creative mind are wondrous and awe-inspiring, stemming from the most perfect blend of both Heart and Head. These elements, while rare, can still be built into the repertoire of one’s soul through careful practice.
However at the end of the day, the Heart and I retire to equal positions. It is you and the choices of your soul that determines the course we all take. The Heart has, in this regard, an unfair advantage these days. All the noise and the frustrations that other people employ tend to give favor towards the Heart. They speak from their own experiences and entice other souls to take the path of the Heart to enjoy life’s great pleasures. But they are deceived…
In all truth, life rewards treasure to those that follow their own unique path. That is, a path mixed with choices containing compromise from both I and the Heart. In pains me to admit it, but the truth must be revealed: the most fulfilled and rewarding life ends with full and overflowing transcripts of use from both the Head and the Heart.
